Two Kansas newspapers have new owners.

Joey and Lindsey Young have purchased The Clarion newspaper and its website from Robb and Martha Reeves and J.D. Handly has purchased the Westmoreland Recorder.

Joey Young spent the last two years as a copy editor and designer at the Hutchinson News. Before that he worked for Reeves Media as a reporter for the Harvey County Independent before taking over as editor at the Clarion.

After graduating from Buhler High School in 2003, he went to Hutchinson Community College and majored in communications.

Lindsey is a 2007 graduate from Bethel College in North Newton and began her teaching career at Andale High School. She left there for her high school alma mater, Haven High School, last year and teaches public speaking, debate, forensics, yearbook and integrated media.

Handly, owner and general manager of H&H Publishing, LLC, Fort Scott, purchased the Recorder from Teresa Purvis. Handly also bought a building at 317 Main in downtown Westmoreland to house the newspaper.

Office manager is Rosie Hamilton and the project manager is Katie Hueston, Prescott.

Purvis plans to move to Alaska.
