The National Newspaper Association has made a nationwide call for newspaper publishers to visit congressional offices during the March 14 We Believe in Newspapers Leadership Summit.

The summit is designed to take on a number of topics from the Valassis postal discount issue to the threat of bankruptcy of the Postal Service. Participants in the summit will have an opportunity to speak directly to Postmaster General Patrick Donahue.

“To have the maximum impact … we must have a strong showing of newspaper executives at the Summit. Therefore, NNA is asking for a minimum of two newspaper representatives from each state to attend the Summit,” said Merle Barancyzk, publisher of the Mountain Mail in Salida, Colo. And current president of NNA.

Hotel reservations at the Crystal City Marriott at Reagan National Airport should be secured by Feb. 20. There also is an early-bird discount for registering for the Summit by Feb. 22.
