Brown resigns as Sunshine Coalition executive director

Randy Brown, a career journalist and, most recently, a Wichita State University journalism instructor, has resigned his position as executive director of the Kansas Sunshine Coalition for Open Government, citing health reasons.

He has retired from teaching as well.

Brown has led the organization for the past decade, and the coalition has been housed most of that time at the WSU Elliott School of Communication. WSU will continue its relationship with the organization.

Ron Keefover, president of the board of KSCOG, will serve as interim executive director.

The KSCOG board recently recognized Brown with an "Above and Beyond Award" for his long and dedicated support of open government concepts in Kansas.

Brown's career has included print journalism stints at the Wichita Eagle and Wichita Sun, a broadcast career at KAKE-TV in Wichita and his teaching duties at WSU.

He is a founding member and two-time past president of KSCOG.
