Memorial is Nov. 12 for former KSU professor Bill Brown

Bill Brown, 91, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at St. Peter & All Saints Episcopal Church in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1924 in Burrton, Kan., and grew up in Halstead, Kan. He was in the United States Army and a veteran of World War II.

In 1949 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Kansas State College. Bill worked as a newspaper editor and publisher with Harris News Group and was the Director of Student Publications and Assistant Professor at Kansas State University College of Journalism from 1970 to 1986.

In 1986 he earned his Master of Journalism at the City University of London. He was also a writing coach for Harris News Group from 1991 to 2000.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Nadine Wear; his parents; and brother. He is survived by his son David Brown and wife Cherie; daughter Kathy Rieger; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters.
