Benefit planned for Samantha Branson

A benefit is planned soon for Samantha Branson, wife of Greg Branson and daughter-in-aw of Paul Branson, long-time advertising sales representative at the Osawatomie Graphic.

The Kansas Press Association recently learned Samantha is being treated for Stage Four pancreatic cancer. It was diagnosed in late March. Samantha is only 52, and she and Greg have two children. Their son just graduated from Osawatomie High. Their daughter will be a freshman and had planned on attending St. James Academy in Lenexa where Samantha has been teaching.

Family friend Larry Byers says the family has experienced a double whammy. Greg, a long-time employee of The Kansas City Star, was recently laid off. He is a former KPA board member.

The benefit is planned for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, June 8 at McDowell Farms, 19682 W. 255th St., Paola, Kan.
