USD 457 Summer Programs To Take A Scheduled Break
The USD 457 Books-on-the-Bus and Summer Food Service program will take a scheduled break from June 29 to July 3, 2026. These programs are scheduled to return to their normal schedules on Monday, July 6, 2026.
The sites that the Bookmobile will visit include:
- 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Mondays at Mary Street Apartments, 1803 E. Mary Street.
- 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesdays at Harold Long Park, 1001 E Spruce Street, which is a new location.
- 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesdays at Dean Wiley Park, 2406 Campus Drive.
- 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center, 401 N. Jennie Barker Road.
- 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Mondays at Gertrude Walker Elementary School, 805 W. Fair Street.
- 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Ayala Park, 216 N. Taylor Avenue.
- 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Wednesdays at Bob Halloran Park, 328 Susan Street, which is a new location.
- 12:30 – 1:15 p.m. Monday – Thursday at Garden Rapids at the Big Pool, 312 E Finnup Drive.
- 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Fridays at the Finney County Library, 605 Walnut Street.
The Summer Food Service program sites include:
Eat at sites:
- 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays at Victor Ornelas Elementary School, 3401 E. Spruce Street.
- 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at Horace Good Middle School, 1412 N. Main Street.
- 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at Victor Ornelas Elementary School, 3401 E. Spruce Street.
Grab and Go sites:
- 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at Finney County Health Department, 919 Zerr Road.
- 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at Finney County Library, 605 E. Walnut Street.
The Books on the Bus is a traveling bus that brings books to various locations in Garden City during the summer. The bus visits the community Mondays through Fridays during July. The goal of the bookmobile is to increase reading skills by getting books into the hands of children.
The Summer Food Service program provides free nutritious meals to youth 18 and under.
