Drought conditions continue to worsen across Kansas

Thanks to unseasonably hot temperatures, drought conditions across the state of Kansas have intensified over the past week

Most of the state, particularly the southern half, is experiencing a moderate to severe drought, with the bottom of southeast Kansas in an extreme drought.

Across southwest Kansas, most of the area is in a Severe Drought, while other areas are experiencing Moderate Drought, or are Abnormally Dry. Parts of Scott, Finney and almost all of Lane Counties are not in a drought at this time.

Rains Tuesday and Wednesday nights do not reflect on the current drought map. Temperatures will rise to the mid 90’s by the end of the weekend, but cooler weather is expected to filter in next week, with chances of rain, as fall harvest ramps up.
