Oklahoma native Eddie Hibbs III has purchased the Erie Record. The sale was finalized Aug. 16.

Hibbs said, "I think this is a golden opportunity. I hope, in time, the community feels likewise."

Hibbs has worked in nearly every aspect of the newspaper life, from reporting to sales to even a little press work.

Most recently, he worked as the publisher of four weeklies and was regional manager of eight publications in the oil patch of North Dakota. Prior to that, he spent time in Colorado in Akron and Sterling.

While in Colorado, he won four first place awards in the Colorado Press Association newspaper contest.

He bought the newspaper from Tommy Wells.
