NNA chief: communicate, advocate, innovate

I joined NAA nearly eight months ago because I believed deeply in the power of news journalism and the successful future ahead for this industry. After a few months on the job and the opportunity to meet personally with many of you, I am even more convinced that we have reason to be optimistic in the face of industry-wide change.
Our members are constantly experimenting and evolving, while continuing to produce the quality journalism readers crave. You are identifying new and better ways to tell stories, and connecting with your local communities on a daily basis, and freely sharing successful strategies and technologies with each other.
This is a unique and exciting time to represent the news media industry, and I'm honored by the opportunity to hold this position. It is my goal that the NAA be an association you can rely on to support you and your individual businesses, providing strategic connections and genuinely useful information.
To do that, we plan to focus on three key areas in the coming months: Communications, advocacy and research.
When it comes to communications, newspapers have a great story to tell. I plan to continue to champion the innovation and success of our industry, and ensure that we are consistently in front of leaders and influencers in advertising, technology and media.
